The white letters on Sign Hill have announced "South San Francisco The Industrial City" since the 1920s, and the name still fits. East of 101, the old meatpacking and steel sites became the cluster of biotech campuses around Oyster Point, while freight forwarders, airline caterers and parts warehouses line the streets near SFO.
